Rekindled Passion

Tony.

The past couple of nights I’ve been using my “evening energy peak” to work on fixing an old story that’s something I probably should’ve written long ago and I realized I’ve really enjoyed using my evening peak for that.

So I’ve basically found a hobby that’s not watching TV or wishing I still had social media. Plus it’s something I always wanted to do: write.

Of course some people say I do write and I am a writer, but writing on this blog is nothing compared to writing a fiction story and fleshing out the characters and the story and pouring yourself into new things that didn’t exist before you started to put them on paper. Writing about my thoughts and feelings— while definitely also considered “ethereal”— are much easier to write about for someone who spent a large portion of her adult life pouring out her heart and mind to the Internet. Blog writing is easy peasy…

So in answer to one of my previous blog posts (the last one? Maybe two ago…) I found a hobby. 😉 I have a few “hands-on” hobbies too, but one of the things I’ve learned about life and resting recently is that if I work with my hands it’s best to “Sabbath” with my mind, and vice versa. So… this is a form of rest for me.

And I’m so glad I’ve rekindled a passion for this story too… it was a story I used to tell myself growing up during some of the harder times of my life when I didn’t have friends and thought God didn’t really hear my prayers for them.

All these years later, I realize He was just preparing me for life and helping me have a great story, both in real life and in fiction. I’m so grateful for that time of preparation. I’m also grateful for the friends He’s since given me. They’re all special to me and I try my best not to take them for granted.
