Jk, I’m still weird

We got back to Kansas City yesterday evening after what ended up being one of the best 8+ hour car rides I’ve ever had with friends. So many good memories were made and I really look forward to the next time I head back to South Bend for that convention.

Today was definitely “BACK TO WORK” Tuesday so it was fun, but only in the fact that I did something “normal” and got to listen to an audiobook for 7 hours while cleaning houses.

But I realized today about halfway through the day that a real and actual vacation really does wonders for one’s state of mind. That’s not to say I felt like I was going off the rails or anything, but my “staycation” back in June was anything but relaxing, so this was really nice to just exist and be in a mostly unfamiliar but not unfriendly environment.

I’ve been going through Annie F. Downs’s book Chase The Fun (today was day 51 of 100), and one of the things I’ve been learning most recently is to find the fun wherever I am in life, but also to relax and not always be in “work mode” just because I own a business and work is literally wherever I find myself physically located.

So this trip was a fun reset of sorts. I wasn’t really overly involved in a lot of news, I wasn’t involved in a lot of outside events except what I had been “dragged” to South Bend to do, and I was able to just… be.

It was a wonderful time all the way around and I’m so grateful that I didn’t have social media to keep me out of the moment… as it had a tendency to do on many previous trips since 2012.

Take some time this week to just be in the moment, friend. You were created to live now, so just be present.
