*The following Bloganuary post was supposed to have been the first one but when they started sending me emails, they began by sending them to me a day in advance. Until this morning when I didn’t get an email, I had no real idea and thought maybe it was just a glitch. So this question was supposed to have been for the first day and the past 3 are now technically a day off. At least the whole thing righted itself before we got too far into the year.
Bloganuary writing prompt:
What is something you want to achieve this year?
The blogger that made me want to try Bloganuary, That Scared Little Girl, had posted her answer to this question, but by the time I signed up, maybe it was too late in the day so I just did the question that was in the email.
Either way, we’re here now and it’s been a long few days of trying to think of an answer to this question in the event I actually wanted to take a stab at it.
I think I’ve mentioned my 5-year, question-a-day journal that I have and of course for the second year in a row, they asked a similar question on the second day: “What are you looking forward to most this year?”
So far, I’m just trying to keep dogs alive… so I haven’t really taken the time to think of myself all that much. With the exception of trying to work things out with my new car, Greg The Destroyer.**
**Yes, I renamed my car. I’ll write more about that this weekend with my normal weekly update blog**
I think the biggest thing I want to achieve this year is new levels of growth.
And that seems like a cop-out answer, sure. Most of them do if they don’t seem cliché, but I find that opening myself up to whatever God wants for me is far easier than trying to make Him fit into whatever box I’d prefer.
So I want to achieve new levels of growth. That can come in all forms.
– Virtues (like patience specifically)
– Finances
– Relationships (especially with family)
– Job-related (even with getting rid of a whole aspect, I can still have growth)
Just to name a few over-arching views from my own personal life.
Although I have more specific goals, growth is the biggest thing I want to achieve. What falls under that is just added bonus.
I know that people perish with a lack of vision, but as I get older it seems less daunting to make out a new plan for the year when I realize I can start fresh every morning and on any day.
Like with social media. I stopped that in August, and it wasn’t even the end of August! Everyday is a new day to set new goals for the next.
There is something to be said about there being a new number at the end of the year I have to write down though, that’s for sure.
