Pretty sure I’ve never shared this picture on any platform or even with anyone before. This is what I call an *aesthetic* picture because it tells a story and yet leaves you wanting more.
Bloganuary Writing Prompt:
Do you have a memory that’s linked to a smell?
These writing prompts are hard. Are we sure today is only halfway through the month? *checks calendar* Weird.
I have a lot of memories linked to smells. The big question would be do I have any worth sharing and can I remember them…
Okay, so you’re going to get a sappy/sad/sweet story because I’m feeling that type of way tonight.
When my dad was alive, he had a certain smell from Bath and Body Works he used to use all the time. And other people have used it and of course with your smell combined with whatever you’re wearing, it’s going to smell differently.
But my dad used to use Warm Vanilla Sugar lotion and on him, it didn’t smell girly or weird. It was just… Papa.
After he died, I’ve pretty much stayed away from that smell for the most part. Mainly because I can no longer use Bath and Body Works products, but also just for the memories of my dad that would be associated with him.
Like a dad hug. I miss those from him the most.
If someone I know uses that Warm Vanilla Sugar lotion, it’s not going to trigger me or anything, but if I get a wistful look and a silly little smile… thank you for doing your part to remind me of my dad.
Because that’s the closest thing I can get to a hug from him for a long time.
