The Most Apropos Time To Answer This Question (Bloganuary 27)

Bloganuary Writing Prompt:
What are the pros and cons of procrastination?

WHO DECIDED THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA IN THE LAST WEEK OF THIS CHALLENGE?
Because they really deserve a gold star or something.

The pros of procrastination are really very few. The cons list is longer. But really, who’s thinking of these kinds of things?

“Hmm, if I were to put together a list of reasons why it would be good for me to wait to start this thing, would it outweigh the list of reasons why it would be good for me to start now?”
Said no one, ever.

And yet we do it all the time. The fact that I’m not blogging until the end of the day is just because I haven’t been home all day, but the timing of the question, and now my attempting to finish this blog before midnight to maintain my streak, make it look like I’m trying to live up to my normal M.O. of procrastinating on a project… just to prove a point.

But I promise I was just working all day in some capacity.

I really used to be a Pro at procrastinating, and then I figured out how my circadian rhythm works and when the best times for me to do those “special projects” might be, on top of when my work schedule is.

I’m a big proponent of figuring out when the best times for you to be awake and asleep are and a lot of your life will be a lot easier to live, plus you’ll be able to live at a more full capacity.

It’s hard to say no to things other people want to do… but if you say yes too much, then you’ll fall right back into those old patterns of procrastination again. Overall it would be best to say no, because your life will feel better, but we all know you don’t want to feel left out.

Just ask my bedroom that still has barely unwrapped gifts from Christmas strewn all around the room as well as the clean clothes still sitting in the suitcase I’ll need again next weekend.

I never said I was perfect. This blog is more for me today than it is for any of you. 😛
