Gone For Good

Ranger “Danger”

Multiple times over the past week, people have asked me if I’ve seen something that was posted on social media or if I heard about whatever.

At a convention where most of the goobers there found each other through social media, I allow the questions. But when people I know and talk to on a regular basis actually ask if I’m still off social media as if it’s just a break I’m taking…

It’s a bit weird.

I don’t know how many ways I can say “I don’t have social media” before it takes in other people’s minds, but if you, the reader, can think of a new way, feel free to let me know. 😉 I would like to try it.

My bestest friend does regularly ask if I’ve seen something because she doesn’t know if anyone else I talk to shares things with me, and that kind of questioning is alright because it’s possible the answer is yes and then we can just skip the step of me being shown or told about said thing and just go straight to the opinions of the thing.

On the other hand…

I did have someone ask “Are you still off social media?” And the tone of the question was not meant in a derisive way, but for some reason it irked me as if it had been. So let me say this once more for the people in the back:

I do NOT have social media. And at this point, I don’t think getting a social media for any reason would be wise at any stage of my life.

The Lord knew what I wanted to do with my life and also knew I would need to delete my entire social media presence. And that I would follow through with doing so.

The biggest thing I learned on Sunday at the panel that my friends were a part of was that, sure social media is good for networking, but in the long-run it will eventually be a distraction and you have to decide what you want out of life more:

Having a social media presence… or following your dreams.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m going to use the time I have from not being on social media to work toward fulfilling my dreams.

It’s taken a lot of brain rewriting, but it’s easier now than it was last September and I know by the time I reach this September, I’ll be even better about it.

Get out there and start following your dreams. 😉

AMEN! I’m so happy to be moving away from social media marketing for my books and focusing on other venues.
