Blimey Camp 2024, Pt. 3

Lunch with new Blimey Cow friends!

Sunday morning, I woke up at 6:52am because all but two other women in the cabin were awake and trying to silently pack.

I rapidly ruined that silence by accidentally knocking my plastic travel coffee mug onto the floor.

“Well, I guess we’re all awake now,” I muttered loudly. No one responded, but I did wake Amanda up and she was at breakfast a few minutes after I was.

Having breakfast with new friends I had bonded with the previous day felt really special that morning. And we didn’t even talk about anything important. In hindsight, I realized we all seemed to have church on our minds because we all talked about our churches in some way during the meal.

Eli (pronounced Elly) had mentioned on the way to breakfast that she wasn’t ready for BlimeyCon to end and wanted to go out to lunch with some friends. At some point after she told me, she also mentioned it to Amanda who is a go-getter and looked up the closest place to have lunch with a group of people. Much of that planning was out of my hands. My biggest concern was getting us back home before midnight.

After breakfast, there was a live Q&A with BlimeyCow and then regular mingling afterward. That was a good time to say goodbye to the entire Taylor family and I made sure to do so. I also said goodbye to the people I had bonded with the most and then Amanda and I headed back up to our cabin and helped Eli and Josh load their things into my vehicle.

The above picture was from lunch. We went to Panera. Amanda and I also went on a side quest and went to the Frothy Monkey in downtown Franklin for coffee. That was a lot of fun because it was really busy and we got to see all of the cute shops along the way.

Before we left, we all got one more photo as a small group and said goodbye.

It was good to have an “overflow” event for BlimeyCon because the previous BlimeyCons I’ve been to went until almost 5pm on Sunday, so it was really odd that we had to be out by 11am… but that was because of the campsite and not because of anything the Taylors were trying to do.

The drive home was about as fun as the drive home, but even more so because we all had a whole weekend of memories to talk about. Plus we had already survived one 9-hour drive together, so we knew the second drive would be less awkward.

We were all very overjoyed to finally be home, however.

Amanda and I dropped Josh and Eli off and then spent much of the rest of the drive home in relative silence. We talked a bit, but it wasn’t out of a need to stay awake… the silence was good enough for us both.

In conclusion of the entire weekend…

It was a memorable weekend and I learned a lot about myself. I am thankful to my friend (and her husband) for buying my ticket to Blimey Camp this year, I am thankful to the Taylor family for continuing to host an annual get-together for their supporters and friends, I am thankful to Amanda for being crazy enough to come with me, and I am thankful especially to the Lord for being with me the whole weekend and for continuing to show Himself to me in new and fresh ways.

He is always faithful.
