After the stressful weekend last weekend, I apparently had to outdo that. My old car, Penelope, a 2012 Toyota Corolla with 264,000 miles on her⦠starting leaking a fluid. On top of the cosmetic damage (part of her front bumper came off and the rest was held on by duct tape), it was more trouble than the car was worth to fix everything.
So I traded my old car in for a new one. The trade-in value with some extra money I got from pet-sitting extra this weekend was just short of the $1,000 I waned to put down on a car, but I looked into some different options and put out some inquiries and only one dealership called me back.
So the new guy in the picture is Greg. He is a 2014 Toyota RAV4, All-Wheel Drive with 147,700 miles on him. Iβve never had an AWD before, so thatβs been an interesting experience. Greg and I have had a few setbacks already and weβve only known each other for a day, but Iβm confident Iβll be able to keep him for about 8 years. The Lord told me this morning the car will be fine, and I know He meant all setbacks will be resolved in due course.
This year is going to be a lot less driving with The Directive coming into play at the end of March so that will help with keeping the car for longer than a few years. Once Greg and I get over these minor hurdles, this car will be as good as new. Literally.
On A Different Noteβ¦
I found this idea on another bloggerβs site and decided I might try it too. It requires me blogging everyday, soβ¦ weβll see if it goes as well as I want it toβ¦
Itβs called Bloganuary and itβs literally just blogging about a prompt that they give you.
Today, the prompt is:
How are you brave?
And I decided to write my blog backwards to show you that Iβm brave by going by myself (with my βfinancial advisory friendβ because itβs a good idea to buy a car with at least one other person there) to buy a car. It was literally 3 hours and Penelope was signed over to them and Greg was signed over to me.
The amount I owe is far less than it was for Penelope, but the payments are also more affordable.
So this has been an interesting way to go into 2023. A lot of doors closing, but that just means times are changing and I need to remember to keep myself open to whatever the Lord is wanting me to do.
In conclusion:
I told you about my weekend and I started Bloganuary at the same time. So tell me about your week! Did you do anything that made you feel like you wanted to pull your hair out? Or did you just have a nice chill weekend with friends and family? π
