Seasons Of Change

β€œGreg The Grey”

After the stressful weekend last weekend, I apparently had to outdo that. My old car, Penelope, a 2012 Toyota Corolla with 264,000 miles on her… starting leaking a fluid. On top of the cosmetic damage (part of her front bumper came off and the rest was held on by duct tape), it was more trouble than the car was worth to fix everything.

So I traded my old car in for a new one. The trade-in value with some extra money I got from pet-sitting extra this weekend was just short of the $1,000 I waned to put down on a car, but I looked into some different options and put out some inquiries and only one dealership called me back.

So the new guy in the picture is Greg. He is a 2014 Toyota RAV4, All-Wheel Drive with 147,700 miles on him. I’ve never had an AWD before, so that’s been an interesting experience. Greg and I have had a few setbacks already and we’ve only known each other for a day, but I’m confident I’ll be able to keep him for about 8 years. The Lord told me this morning the car will be fine, and I know He meant all setbacks will be resolved in due course.

This year is going to be a lot less driving with The Directive coming into play at the end of March so that will help with keeping the car for longer than a few years. Once Greg and I get over these minor hurdles, this car will be as good as new. Literally.

On A Different Note…

I found this idea on another blogger’s site and decided I might try it too. It requires me blogging everyday, so… we’ll see if it goes as well as I want it to…

It’s called Bloganuary and it’s literally just blogging about a prompt that they give you.

Today, the prompt is:
How are you brave?

And I decided to write my blog backwards to show you that I’m brave by going by myself (with my β€œfinancial advisory friend” because it’s a good idea to buy a car with at least one other person there) to buy a car. It was literally 3 hours and Penelope was signed over to them and Greg was signed over to me.

The amount I owe is far less than it was for Penelope, but the payments are also more affordable.

So this has been an interesting way to go into 2023. A lot of doors closing, but that just means times are changing and I need to remember to keep myself open to whatever the Lord is wanting me to do.

In conclusion:
I told you about my weekend and I started Bloganuary at the same time. So tell me about your week! Did you do anything that made you feel like you wanted to pull your hair out? Or did you just have a nice chill weekend with friends and family? πŸ™‚

  1. Christmas weekend was pretty chill with all the fam here. New Years was a bit more hectic with the annual party, (you were missed!), but all in all it was good. Jesus and I have set some goals for the year that I’m excited to dig into. Really like reading your blogs.

I’m down to read your Bloganuary if you’re down to write it! B-) I’m so happy the car thing worked out. I need you on safe wheels!

Work had me pulling my hair out… but you know that already. πŸ˜‰ But I also know this is the right job for me and have an overwhelming sense of confidence and peace about it, so even when things are nutty, I always know I’m doing the right thing.

  4. I thought Penelope was 284,000? But you know how I am with numbers. Can’t wait for you to get Greg all sorted out. He’s a good looking guy. πŸ˜‚

  5. Glad your automobile update went well for you.
Christmas for us was quiet. I was keeping low key, due to hernia surgery recovery.
